WBPSC (West Bengal Public Service Commission) will hold a written exam for Civil Service (Exe) exam in February 2020. The WB Civil Services (Exe) exam has been divided into groups A, B, C and D. In the first phase, the commission will organize a preliminary test. The WB Civil Service (Exe) Preliminary Exam is scheduled to be held on 09 February 2020 (tentatively). For the same, the WBPSC will release WBCS Admit Card on its official website. Aspirants will be able to get the same by using the application registration number and password/date of birth.

A large number of candidates appear in the examination for various posts under Civil Services in the state of West Bengal. The recruitment board will take more than four months to complete the entire recruitment process.
After the completion of the Preliminary Exam on 09 February, the authority will hold a Main Exam and Personality Test. The candidates who qualify the Preliminary Test will be called up for Main Exam and so on. The complete schedule will be released by the authority on its website very soon.
The WBCS Preliminary Exam will consist of objective type multiple-choice questions. A number of candidates to be selected on the results of the Preliminary Examination will be allowed admission to the Main Examination and a number of candidates to be selected on the results of the Main Examination will be called to appear at the Personality Test.
The Preliminary Examination will consist of only one paper, viz., a paper on “General Studies”. The paper will be of an objective type consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions. The paper will carry 200 marks and will be of 2½ hours duration. The standard of the paper will be of the level of knowledge as expected of a graduate of any faculty of a recognized University.

The Main Examination will consist of six Compulsory papers and one optional subject consisting of two papers (Only for candidates applying for group A and/or B) to be chosen by the candidates from the list of optional subjects given below. There will be two papers of the optional subject of 200 marks each. Each paper, Compulsory or Optional, will carry 200 marks and will be of 3 hours duration.
Out of six compulsory papers four papers i.e. (i) General Studies- I, (ii) General Studies- II, (iii) The Constitution of India and Indian Economy including role and functions of Reserve Bank of India and (iv) Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning will be of MCQ Type to be answered in OMR answer sheets and remaining two compulsory papers i.e. Paper – I and Paper – II will be of conventional type written examination.
A number of candidates selected in order of merit on the results of the Main Examination for all the services and posts included in Groups A, B, C and D shall have to appear at a Personality Test. Each candidate will be asked questions on matters of general interest.
The object of the test will be to assess the candidate’s personal qualities e.g., alertness of mind, the power of clear and logical exposition, intellectual and moral integrity, leadership and also the candidate’s range of interests.
Candidates for Group ‘B’ Service (West Bengal Police Service) will be specially tested at the interviews with regard to their suitability for the service.
Marks for the Personality Test

WB Civil Services Admit Card will consist of details like candidate’s name, roll number, photograph, registration details, exam center details, exam time and general instructions on the admit card print. Aspirants must follow the instructions given by the authority.
Postulates must bring a valid printout of WB Civil Services Admit Card print along with a valid photo identity proof while appearing in the written exam.
