Punjab State Teachers Eligibility Test (PSTET) for the year 2018 will be held in August 2018. Every year, the State Council of Education, Research, and Training (SCERT) organizes PSTET in the month of July-August. The PSTET Notification will be released on the official website. The State Council of Education, Research, and Training (SCERT) organizes the recruitment for the primary stage (Class 1 to 5) and elementary stage (Class 6 to 8) teachers. This test is mandatory for all those candidates who want to be a teacher in the state government schools and added schools of Punjab. The candidates must be aware of PSTET Notification, Exam Dates, Syllabus and pattern for the PSTET-2018 examination.

Educational Qualification: The candidates having the following minimum educational qualification are eligible for Appearing in Punjab State Teachers Eligibility Test (PSTET).
Minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V (Primary Stage):
- Applicants must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
- Applicants must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR
- Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
Minimum Educational Qualification for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage):
- Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
OR
- Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
OR
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*.
PSTET Exam Structure
The Punjab State Teachers Eligibility Test will consist of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with four alternatives. As per the notification, there will be no negative marking in PSTET.
There will be two papers of PSTET (Punjab State Teachers Eligibility Test).
- Paper I will be compulsory for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.
- Paper II will be compulsory for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

QUALIFYING MARKS: A person who scores 60% or more in the PSTET exam will be considered as PSTET pass.
- Punjab Govt., as decided to give a concession of 5% in PSTET to the persons belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently abled persons, etc., in accordance with their extant reservation policy.
- This weightage to the PSTET scores in the recruitment process, however, qualifying the PSTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.
VALIDITY PERIOD OF PSTET CERTIFICATE
- The Validity Period of PSTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of its result.
- There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a PSTET Certificate. A person who has qualified PSTET may also appear again for improving his/her score.

- Select PSTET-1 or PSTET-2 as per the applicant’s qualification
- Fill the required details correctly
- Upload the applicant’s recent photograph and signature in the desired size and format
- Make a payment of the application fees
- Finally, submit the PSTET Application Form
- Take a print out of it for future reference
